Born in Bethlehem, David attended Emmaus High School before graduating from Liberty High School, his obituary says.
David worked at Ciao Sandwich Shoppe in Easton and had a passion for barbequing and smoking all types of meats.
He was also a skilled ice hockey player and had played on a number of different teams throughout the Lehigh Valley like the LV Comets, Bethlehem Blast, and LV Warriors, according to his memorial.
A GoFundMe launched for David’s funeral expenses states that he had been admitted to the hospital on Friday, Sept. 23, and describes him as “an adventurous person with a kind soul.”
“David was an individual who brought so much joy into so many people’s lives,” reads the campaign, launched by Alyssa Orwan, David’s sister-in-law. “The bonds he had with his foodie friends and hockey family are immeasurable.”
The fundraiser also states that David was able to give the “gift of life” with the donation of his heart and two kidneys.
More than $2,600 had been raised as of Thursday, Oct. 13.
In addition to his sister-in-law, David leaves behind his loving mother, Debra; his brother, Jonathan Orwan; grandfather, Arthur Koons; niece, Elizabeth Orwan; goddaughter, Olivia Ward; as well as many extended family members and close friends.
Tributes for David also poured in on social media:
David’s funeral was held at Cantelmi Long Funeral Home in Bethlehem on Wednesday, Oct. 12.
“Dave was [a] true friend,” Vince DiCarlo writes.
“I'm going to miss you, your big smile and infectious nature you had on everyone…All kids loved you, it's like they knew you were just a big kid at heart.”
